the destruction of black media

The majority of Black media outlets are not created by Black Americans, which highlights a significant gap in representation and ownership within the industry. This lack leads to a narrative that often leans towards exploitation rather than progress, stifling the potential for economic advancement within the community. It has been shown that a healthy balance of entertainment and informative content is essential for empowerment, yet the current landscape often capitalizes on cultural trends at the expense of their true originators. As a community, it is imperative that we unapologetically express our narratives and invest in our talent, ensuring that we own our stories and influence the conversation. Ultimately, we must acknowledge that when trends start with us, they should not end in exploitation but rather in a celebration and elevation of our culture and achievements.
